Madagascar Birding Adventure

Upon arrival at Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo (Tana), you will be met by a representative who will arrange your transfer to Combava Hotel.

Following an early morning breakfast, you'll be transported to the airport for a flight to Sambava. Upon arriving in Sambava, a local guide will greet you and accompany you on a one-hour drive to the Village of Manantenina, where the park entrance office is located. There, we'll arrange our entrance, meet porters and guides, and embark on another 30-minute drive to the village of Mandena. From Mandena, we'll commence the trek to the first campsite, where you'll spend the night camping. This area of lowland rainforest is a good place to see several species of lemurs, many birds (including the helmet vanga), and many species of amphibians and reptiles.

Today, you will explore Marojejy National Park, focusing on birdwatching and other wildlife. Marojejy is one of the most strikingly beautiful and wild areas of Madagascar, a place of dense, jungly rainforests, sheer, high cliffs, and plants and animals found nowhere else on earth.

Lunch will be served at the second campsite, but in the evening, you will again spend another night at the first campsite, making the way out and back to Sambava easier on the next day.

In the early hours of the morning, you'll embark on a journey out of the park to catch a flight from Sambava back to Tana. Following your exit from the park, you'll proceed to the village of Mandena, where you'll rendezvous with your driver for transportation to Sambava Airport. From there, you'll board a flight back to Tana, where another guide will be awaiting your arrival. Following this, you'll embark on a 3-4 hour drive to Andasibe National Park, with an estimated arrival time in the evening around 7:00 PM.
